1. General & Getting Started

Answers to the most common questions people ask before enrolling in a DriveZenoGuard protection plan.

An extended vehicle protection plan is a service contract that pays for the repair or replacement of specific mechanical and electrical components after your manufacturer warranty expires or runs out of mileage. Unlike car insurance, which covers accidents and third-party liability, our plans cover breakdowns caused by normal mechanical wear, defective parts, and system failures. When a covered component fails, you take the vehicle to one of our 1,200+ partner workshops, and DriveZenoGuard settles the bill directly with the garage.

No. Motor insurance is a legally mandated product that covers accidents, theft, fire, and third-party liability. A DriveZenoGuard protection plan is a separate, optional service contract that specifically covers mechanical and electrical breakdowns from normal use. Most customers carry both: standard motor insurance for accidents and legal compliance, and a DriveZenoGuard plan for engine, transmission, and electrical failures that insurance typically will not pay for.

Once you accept a quote and complete payment, your vehicle must pass a multi-point inspection (in person at a partner garage, or via a verified digital diagnostic scan) before the policy is formally issued. Most inspections are completed within 24 to 48 hours. After issuance, a standard 30-day or 1,000-km initial waiting period applies before you can file your first claim, whichever comes first.

The waiting period protects the integrity of the protection pool by ensuring that plans are purchased proactively rather than only after a problem has already started. It also gives time for the inspection and documentation process to be finalized. Roadside assistance benefits, where included in your plan, are typically active immediately and are not subject to the waiting period.

Yes. Most used vehicles under 10 years old and under 150,000 km qualify for at least one of our plans, subject to passing the pre-enrollment inspection. Older or higher-mileage vehicles may still be eligible for a modified Powertrain Guard plan at adjusted pricing. Get a free quote and we will confirm eligibility based on your vehicle's exact make, model, age, and mileage.

2. Vehicle Eligibility

What qualifies, what doesn't, and how the inspection process works.

A certified technician performs a multi-point check covering the engine, transmission, drivetrain, electrical system, fluid levels, and any active dashboard fault codes. This establishes a baseline condition report so that any pre-existing issue is clearly excluded from future coverage. If you cannot visit a partner facility in person, you may submit a verified digital OBD-II diagnostic scan instead, provided it meets our documentation standards.

Not necessarily. In most cases, only the specific component with a known, documented issue is excluded from coverage, while the rest of the vehicle remains eligible under the plan. Total disqualification generally only applies to vehicles with salvage, flood, or total-loss titles, or where the odometer has been tampered with.

No. Vehicles carrying salvage, junk, flooded, rebuilt, or total-loss titles are strictly ineligible for any DriveZenoGuard protection plan, regardless of their current mechanical condition, as outlined in our Terms & Conditions.

Cosmetic modifications generally do not affect eligibility. However, performance modifications such as non-OEM tuning chips, aftermarket turbocharger installs, or suspension lift kits that alter the vehicle beyond manufacturer specifications can void coverage for any resulting mechanical damage, even on components that would otherwise be covered.

3. Plans, Pricing & Coverage

Understanding the differences between our plans and what each one actually covers.

Powertrain Guard covers the core mechanical systems that keep your vehicle moving: the engine block, transmission, and drivetrain/axle assembly, along with cashless repairs at our partner network. Bumper-to-Bumper includes everything in Powertrain Guard and adds coverage for air conditioning, electrical systems, and infotainment components, plus a complimentary annual roadside membership and full transferability on resale. It is our most comprehensive individual-vehicle plan.

No. Routine consumables such as brake pads, rotors, wiper blades, tires, clutch friction plates, shocks, struts, batteries, spark plugs, and standard filters are considered normal wear items and are excluded from all plans. Our plans are designed to protect against unexpected mechanical failure, not scheduled maintenance items.

No plan covers cosmetic items. Paint peeling, rust corrosion, body panels, glass, weather seals, upholstery stitching, and dashboard trim wear all fall outside mechanical/electrical protection and are explicitly excluded, as these are considered appearance-related rather than functional failures.

Commercial Fleet Guard is a custom-quoted plan built for taxis, delivery vehicles, and multi-vehicle fleets. It includes multi-vehicle discounts, priority roadside dispatch ahead of standard queue times, a dedicated fleet account manager for claims coordination, and flexible monthly or quarterly billing cycles instead of a single annual payment. Pricing depends on fleet size, vehicle type, and average daily usage.

There is no fixed cap on the number of claims, but each plan carries an aggregate payout limit stated in your individual policy schedule. Once cumulative approved claims reach that limit within your coverage term, the plan is considered exhausted for the remainder of the term. Your exact aggregate limit is listed on the policy confirmation you received at enrollment.

4. Filing & Tracking Claims

Step-by-step answers about what to do when something goes wrong.

Pull over safely as soon as possible and switch off the engine. Continuing to drive after a warning light, unusual noise, or overheating event can cause secondary damage that will not be covered, since operating a vehicle after a breakdown is treated as failure to protect it. Call our 24/7 line or use the claims portal to report the issue immediately, and arrange a tow to the nearest partner workshop if the vehicle is not driveable.

Yes, always. No repair, teardown, or component removal should begin until the workshop receives a formal Authorization Code from a DriveZenoGuard claims adjuster. Repairs carried out without this code are treated as unauthorized and will not be reimbursed, even if the failed part would otherwise have been covered.

If the diagnosis confirms the failure is a covered component, DriveZenoGuard reimburses reasonable diagnostic labor up to standard regional labor time guides. If the failure turns out to be a non-covered item or excluded cause, the diagnostic and teardown costs remain the vehicle owner's responsibility.

Cashless, direct-settlement repairs are only available at our 1,200+ certified partner workshops. If you use an independent, non-partner garage, you will typically need to pay for repairs upfront and submit an out-of-network reimbursement claim, which is subject to additional documentation review and may take longer to process.

Every claim is assigned a reference number at the time of reporting. You can track real-time status, including inspection, authorization, and settlement stages, through the File / Track Claim page, or by calling our Claims & Support line directly with your reference number and policy ID.

For major engine or transmission claims, we may request up to 24 months of maintenance history. Acceptable proof includes itemized receipts showing your vehicle's VIN, service date, mileage at the time, and materials used, such as oil grade and filter part number. If you service the vehicle yourself, keep dated store receipts for fluids and parts along with a mileage logbook.

5. Roadside Assistance

Everything about towing, jump-starts, fuel delivery, and lockouts.

Complimentary towing is provided up to 50 km per event to the nearest DriveZenoGuard certified workshop. Any distance beyond 50 km is billed directly to you at standard regional per-kilometer tow rates, which the dispatcher will confirm with you before the tow begins.

Yes. Roadside dispatch operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including public holidays, for every active protection plan that includes this benefit.

We will dispatch up to 5 liters of emergency fuel to your location free of dispatch charges. You are only responsible for paying the retail cost of the fuel itself at the point of delivery.

Yes, we will dispatch help to unlock your vehicle at no charge for the service call. However, if your keys need to be replaced or a transponder chip needs re-programming, those locksmith and parts costs are not covered and remain your responsibility.

If your vehicle has a usable inflated spare, we install it on-site free of charge. If no usable spare is available, the standard towing terms apply, and the vehicle will be towed to the nearest partner workshop within the 50 km complimentary limit.

6. Billing & Renewals

Payment schedules, renewal timing, and price change policy.

Individual plans are billed annually. We send a renewal reminder by email and SMS 30 days before your term ends. Fleet plans on flexible billing cycles renew according to the schedule agreed with your fleet account manager, typically monthly or quarterly.

Renewal pricing is primarily based on your vehicle's updated age, mileage, and general condition at re-inspection rather than the number of claims filed. However, a pattern of major claims may be factored into the renewal quote, and we will always communicate any pricing change clearly before you are asked to renew.

We accept major debit and credit cards, UPI, and net banking for individual plans. Commercial fleet accounts can also arrange invoiced billing cycles through their dedicated account manager.

If a renewal payment fails, coverage is paused until payment is successfully processed. If the plan lapses beyond a short grace period, any new claim will require the vehicle to pass inspection again before coverage can resume, and a new waiting period may apply.

7. Cancellations & Transfers

How refunds are calculated and how to move your plan to a new owner.

Yes, if you cancel within the first 30 days and have not filed any claims, you receive a 100% refund with no administrative fee. Cancellations after day 30 are refunded on a pro-rata basis according to remaining time or mileage, minus a ₹500 processing fee.

Yes, you can cancel at any time. The refund will be calculated on a pro-rata basis for remaining coverage, minus the total monetary value of any claims already paid out, plus the standard ₹500 processing fee.

Yes. Our plans are transferable to a private buyer for the remaining duration of the term. Submit a Transfer Request Form with a copy of the bill of sale and a ₹300 transfer fee within 15 days of the ownership change to complete the process.

Refunds are typically processed to your original payment method within 7 to 10 business days after your cancellation request and any required documentation are confirmed.
